As we stand by you during these vulnerable and transitional times, we believe our relationship is made stronger by providing straight-talk, coaching, and one-on-one counseling.


Our approach to comprehensive wealth management is centered on an ongoing consultative process and a long-term client-advisor relationship.

An Overview of Our Process

We begin with a very long conversation about the most important things: your values, goals, and personal and family relationships. Once we fully understand what you want out of life, why you want it, and with whom you would like to share it, only then do we discuss your current resources—your income, assets, and liabilities—and your timeline. As we have learned over many years of refining our process, only by understanding you completely can we actually help you reach your goals. As we establish a rapport and gain insight into your personal and family objectives, we work with you to develop and create a custom wealth management plan covering your investments and retirement needs, as well as the advance planning areas of wealth enhancement, wealth transfer, wealth protection, and charitable giving.

We’ve found that this process not only builds a great amount of trust, but it also moves you more quickly and efficiently through each of the predictable phases of life to arrive more quickly and efficiently at the end result—financial freedom and choice for you and your family.

What to Expect

At our initial meeting, we conduct a Discovery Interview. We will walk you through a series of questions as we counsel with you, to best understand why you seek our advice. This helps us identify the challenges you face in achieving all that is important to you. We examine your current situation, the goals you would like to achieve, and how we can maximize the possibility of achieving those goals.

At your Investment Plan Meeting, we present our diagnostic of your current financial situation and our recommendations for how we can bridge the gaps in order for you to reach your goals. This plan, known as the Investment Plan, forms the foundation for all of our work together. In this meeting, we are ready to make a mutual decision about whether our firm can add substantial value and whether or not we should proceed. Should we both choose to work together, we commit to each other to work toward achieving everything that is important to you and your family. Following this meeting, we also execute the documents necessary to put your investment plan into motion. If we choose not to work together, we are more than happy to direct you towards a firm that will better serve you.

When you have multiple investment accounts, it’s easy to become overwhelmed with the amount of paperwork you receive. At your 45-Day Follow-Up Meeting, we help you organize all that paperwork in a notebook that we provide. We also answer any questions you may have so that you understand exactly what is happening with your money.

Meanwhile, we work together with our Expert Team and other specialists to formulate your wealth management plan which we will give to you at our first Regular Progress Meeting. This plan is designed to evaluate the entire range of your financial needs in all four areas of advanced planning and includes our recommendations for moving forward.

Our Regular Progress Meetings, which are scheduled at intervals convenient to you, give us the opportunity to review any major changes in your personal or financial situation since our last meeting. We take the time to review your progress towards your long-term financial goals and, if necessary, adjust your investment plan. These meetings are an opportunity to implement wealth management solutions relevant to your unique situation.

Cambridge Wealth Counsel Has Merged!

We are pleased to announce that effective July 1, 2016, we have merged with Modera Wealth Management, LLC (“Modera”), an independent, fee only wealth management firm with offices in Georgia, Florida, Massachusetts and New Jersey. The merger brings together two growing firms with a common set of values and wealth management philosophies. Both share a deep dedication to being a fee-only fiduciary, providing objective advice in the best interests of their clients, remaining independent and continue to deliver exceptional service.

The resources and expertise we can provide to our clients are enhanced; the combined group results in a team of 51 employees, including 25 holding the CFP ® certification, 5 with the CFA designation, 3 CPAs, one JD, one CDFA, one EA and one CFTA. Along with your current wealth management team, we may, depending on your needs, introduce other specialists in our expanded group.

The name “Modera” stands for “to manage, to moderate”, with various roots in Latin, Italian and Spanish. Given that we are creating long-term financial plans and managing assets for the long-term with emphasis on risk management, the name Modera embodies our core beliefs. It is up to date and forward looking, yet grounded in the principle of “take no more risk than one needs to achieve one’s goals”.
